It would be hard to follow up the greatest season in league history. Time marches on, however, and the fifth Intellivison Baseball League season began on 4/2/18 with the Mutants shutting out the Smash 3-0. This was followed by the Armada beating the Bombers in an 18 inning marathon.

The Smash, Mutants and Snakes all led the Action Network at mid-season. The Spartans and River Raiders blasted off early to lead the Battle Network.

During the second half of the season, the Mutants and Ghosts were fighting to be at the top of the Action Network, while the River Raiders and Bombers were in competition for the top of the Battle Network. In the end, the Mutants and River Raiders emerged champions and were set to face off in the league championship series.

For the first time in league history, the Beamriders were not in the league championship series. The River Raiders hosted the Mutants on June 25 and they earned a dominant 4-1 win. However, the Mutants strong pitching and defense earned two shutouts in games 2 and 3 to take the league title.
